March 2, 2026 (, Kashmir) – Authorities imposed security restrictions across parts of the city after protests broke out over the reported assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, .

The iconic area was sealed, with security forces restricting access to the historic to prevent public gatherings and demonstrations. Movement in several sensitive areas was closely monitored to maintain law and order.

Officials ordered all schools and educational institutions across the Kashmir Valley to remain closed for two days as a precautionary measure. The also postponed its ongoing examinations in view of the evolving security situation.

Meanwhile, mobile internet speeds were curtailed across the Valley as a preventive step to avoid the spread of provocative content and viral videos related to the unrest. Authorities said the restrictions were aimed at maintaining calm amid heightened tensions.

Chief Minister appealed for restraint and urged security agencies to ensure that those mourning the killing are allowed to express their grief peacefully. He said the police and civil administration should exercise utmost caution and avoid the use of unnecessary force.
